Varlanda M. Witcher

M.A., OTR/L – Senior Advisor for Youth and Family Service

I've dedicated my career to making a meaningful impact as an Occupational Therapist and educator. With over 30 years of experience, I’ve worked with individuals across the lifespan—adults, infants, and children—helping them reach their full potential by developing customized rehabilitation plans and collaborating with families, teachers, and interdisciplinary teams.

My Story

I began my journey with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Howard University, followed by a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from George Washington University, where I focused on traumatic brain injury. Throughout my career, I have held diverse roles: as an Occupational Therapist in public schools, supporting students with disabilities; as an Early Intervention Specialist, ensuring young children receive necessary services; and as a Clinical Specialist, addressing the needs of adults with severe intellectual and physical disabilities.

My work has always been guided by evidence-based practice, using the latest in occupational therapy interventions to improve outcomes for my clients. Whether adapting classroom environments, training parents and teachers, or developing individualized service and education plans, I’ve maintained a strong commitment to fostering trust, collaboration, and success for every individual I work with.

I am passionate about empowering others through education and practical solutions, having instructed future therapists at Howard University and supported families through early intervention coaching. Through each role, I remain committed to service coordination and building community partnerships, always aiming to enhance the lives of those I serve.
